How did protesters merely attempting to block the soldiers end up killing them?
How many soldiers died and what methods were used to kill them?
Additionally, the 1995 US State Department funded documentary The Gate of Heavenly Peace shows Chai Ling giving a speech in which she openly calls for violent insurrection and received loud cheers from those near her. Doesn't this imply that there were people at the protest who were not merely demonstrating for democracy, but were openly supporting the violent overthrow of the government? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MikaelaBasher (talk • contribs) 09:44, September 16, 2024 (UTC)
Apparently, they had seized a tank. Also civilian gun possession was only fully banned in 1996. Chai Ling's act is a typical attempt of color revolution. All student leaders are alive and were granted to study at top Western universities, so most people in the West lack basic context of what happened. Protesters are continuously portrayed as peaceful and the government as bloodthirsty, therefore it just stuck in people's minds. Same happened in Hong Kong in 2019, in a digital age where everything could be documented. People just don't care about facts, they usually hear about something on the news once. The continuation is irrelevant, as public opinion is then already made up.--2001:16B8:BA2C:CC00:F89E:4FB6:A9E6:C5C (talk) 23:44, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
