Mr. Lothrop
[edit]The "Mr. – Lothrop" mentioned in the linked book (and the only one without a first name) is probably George V. N. Lothrop, but I can't find any other source confirming this. He was one of the unnominated candidates for President and his vote comes from one Michigander, which makes me think it's from Mr. Lothrop himself, a relative/political friend, or just a fan of his. It's possible there is no source specifying if this is the correct assumption.--Tim Thomason 21:40, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Coemgenus, I'm very happy and inspired to see your work here. As per the above checklist, I do have some insights that I think will be useful in improving the article. Can you provide inline citations for the following?
- "In the meantime, issues of tariff reform and the gold standard divided the country and the major parties."
- "By the 1880 convention, the nation's money was backed by gold alone, but the issue was far from settled." (Can you provide an inline citation for this?)
- I'll check into these two, but it should be easy enough.
- Okay! Thanks! I think it should not prevent me from promoting the article. --Seabuckthorn ♥ 23:50, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'll check into these two, but it should be easy enough.
- "As the convention opened, Bayard was still among the leading candidates, but was far from certain of victory."
- Done this one. --Coemgenus (talk) 11:09, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
