Naming
[edit]According to the press release, the channel is named as "TEN-HD" - should this article follow? ~ Trisreed my talk my contribs 15:18, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Tris, as per wikipedia's manual of style, capitilisation should be avoided in article names. Given that Ten is not a real acronym, the article name should be lowercase. Therefore, 'Ten HD' is the most appropriate name. Stickeylabel 22:30, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- Shouldn't the hyphen still be present then? Most sources, such as ebroadcast.com.au include it. Nova Prime 07:02, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, if there's no good reason presented not to change it within the next few days, the hyphen will be added. It still seems to be used more often than without, see this press release: http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/enews/ten-hd-arrives-301107.html Nova Prime 03:53, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- As per Wikipedia's manual of style (WP:MOS), it would be prefered to use 'Ten HD' without a hyphen. In addition to this, various sources spell the channel differently, some capitalised and some not, some hyphenated and some not. Given that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it would be more appropriate to use an encylopedic article title that conforms to the encyclopedia's consensus and style. Please gain consensus and allow for adequete time before implementing any name changes to the article. Stickeylabel 04:21, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Does a hyphen count as a special character though? That's the only relevant part I noticed in the MoS. Though I guess I can concede that there's no point changing it until it's used in one manner consistently by official sources. Nova Prime 13:04, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

I made some slight changes
[edit]I removed the direct references to the individual stations for now since it's confusing - most people will see the callsigns as referring to the original Network Ten channel. I also got rid of the second paragraph in the programmings section because they are, in reality, Network Ten shows - I think this article should focus mainly on exclusive content. It would also be a bad idea to be too specific about what'll be shown since it hasn't launched yet.. timgraham 02:08, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Tim. The station call-signs are still in use, and an encylopedia should always be factually correct, regardless of peoples predetermined thoughts. Both Network Ten and Ten HD will be provided by these stations. Also, I have removed information regarding affiliates, as no information has been yet been annouced regarding this. Stickeylabel 02:16, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- First thing - the callsigns mean nothing with respect to digital, they're basically irrelevant - that's why the city names link to them (since my technical understanding is that they refer to Ten's 'mutliplexes' in each city). Second thing - saying something 'is not known' is different to saying something will happen - I've tried to clarify things a little in there so (hopefully) it makes sense. timgraham 02:20, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Please stop reverting it, I mentioned it here so you could talk through concerns first.. timgraham 02:22, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Discuss then change, you can't alter something and say discuss before putting it back. Callsigns are used for every television transmitter in the entire country. They are names still used for all transmitters. TEN Sydney, ATV Melbourne, TVQ Brisbane, ADS Adelaide, and NEW Perth will carry the Ten HD service, as well as the main Network Ten service. Stickeylabel 02:26, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- WP:REVERT:
- There's sometimes trouble determining whether some claim is true or useful, particularly when there are few people "on board" who are knowledgeable about the topic. In such a case, it's a good idea to raise objections on a talk page
- Do not revert changes simply because someone makes an edit you consider problematic, biased, or inaccurate. Improve the edit, rather than reverting it.
- Do not revert good faith edits. In other words, try to consider the editor "on the other end." If what one is attempting is a positive contribution to Wikipedia, a revert of those contributions is inappropriate unless, and only unless, you as an editor possess firm, substantive, and objective proof to the contrary. Mere disagreement is not such proof. See also Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith.
- (This is what I meant)
- For now, I thought that my wording was the most appropriate - it made reference to what cities Ten HD would be available in (with the appropriate links, to keep the paragraph relatively easy to read), and explained that it wasn't completely clear if it would be available in regional areas. timgraham 02:32, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- I did not at all mean to come off as rude in any way, and I appologise if I did. I agree with all the edits that you have done :), except for removing mention of the callsigns, as it is my understanding that the stations will carry two services, Network Ten and Ten HD. Stickeylabel 02:38, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- That's fine. timgraham 02:41, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Logo
[edit]Could someone fix the logo? It is not the correct logo. While looking similar it does not contain gradients like the correct logo. It has never seen it be displayed without gradients therefor it is not the correct logo. (See this) - Mike Beckham (talk) 08:41, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, as per this version. A user uploaded it earlier this evening, and it was reverted claiming WP:FU. I have added a Non-free / fair use media rationale so it is compliant. I have only ever seen this glassy version in use (except for the white on-screen watermark). SEO75 [talk] 11:53, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Logo section
[edit]Hmmm, do we really need a "logo section" in this article – about a television channel that is just one week old? Whilst it may be "common amongst other tv station pages", I think that is for instances where the channel has been around since the inception of television and therefore has had several logos though the decades (or at least I hope it is). SEO75 [talk] 23:29, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- No, I thought not. Removed. SEO75 [talk] 10:28, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
SVG logo
[edit]Any reason we don't have the JPEG or whatever was used previously? The SVG looks inferior and regardless, I can't see a reason why SVG is necessary at all. Nova Prime (talk) 06:15, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Friday Night Lights
[edit]Okay I just gave up an hour of my time to edit the page and add content regarding the overseas programming on Ten HD. I just added a bunch of citations to back up what I wrote, but regarding Friday Night Lights (TV series). It is showing now on 11:05pm on Friday Nights on Ten HD, but I have no idea how to edit the table. I added a citation to it in the "programming section", can someone please put it in the "current programming" schedule. Also, in a couple of weeks Cane will be replacing Over There. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.177.95.117 (talk) 02:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Thursday Night Programming
[edit]The TV guide I have and Ten's online guide conflict with each other. The TV guide I have says that Medium and Law & Order: SVU are being aired in HD. Ten's online guide says that Smallville and Battlestar Galactica are on though. Now, I understand that Ten's online guide is probably more accurate (as I'm fairly certain that Ten knows it's own programming - I hope) but it is possible that they just haven't updated it yet.
The TV guide I have says that Medium and Law & Order were being aired in HD last week (April 3rd, I think the date was) so if anyone can confirm whether that is true or not it should clear up this mystery. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.233.87.83 (talk) 07:29, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Now Ten HD is a channel in India
[edit]Ten HD has started airing in India. It is part of the Ten Sports network and features the best events from the previous three Ten channels, Ten Sports, Ten Action+, and Ten Cricket. How do we proceed to differentiate this new channel with this existing article? Baldie (talk) 17:49, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Is TEN HD available in Canberra?
[edit]I was wondering, since this claims to broadcast Australia-wide, how come I don't have it in Canberra? S Croz88 (talk) 23:31, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- @S Croz88: I'm not sure where in the article you read that, but the availability section and the infobox both state "Upon its revival on 2 March 2016, Ten HD covers all Ten-owned metropolitan stations as well as the Gold Coast". There is no Ten owned & operated station in Canberra, thus it is not broadcast there. Additionally, Ten's regional affiliate Southern Cross is partnering with the Nine Network from June, so Ten programming currently doesn't have a regional market from then unless it does a deal with WIN Television. -- Whats new?(talk) 23:57, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Propose splitting content into Network 10#10 HD
[edit]I propose that information about the March 2016 revival of 10 HD is split into the existing Network 10 page. Per WP:BROADCAST, it is up to the editors' judgement or a community consensus whether "sister" radio and TV stations under the same branding should be merged to single articles
. While the original incarnation of 10 HD as a distinct service with 'breakaway' programming may be considered notable, its current form (as a full time simulcast of an existing television service) is, in my mind, not notable on its own. For precedent, see 10 Bold, which covers the former channel One as both a HD and SD service. Heyitsstevo (talk) 00:19, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
