HISTORY
[edit]Izmir Ethnography Museum was built in 1831 in İzmir,Turkey. The building’s architect is unknown but it was built by French. It started to build for the patients who caught plague. It called St. Roch Hospital and Monastery. At 1845, they started to use this building for the poor and homeless Christian families accomodation. Also other part of the building was used Matenity Home and Venereal Disease Hospital. On 2 December 1984, It was transfarred to Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the purpose of editing. In 1987, Izmir Ethnography Museum opened. Nowadays, It can be visited at the weekdays , its free
CONTEXT
Izmir Ethnography Museum is in Konak,Turkey. It is near Varyant and above the Bahribaba Bus Station. The building is near the Konak’s center, and Its a crowded area in Izmir. It is located in same garden Izmir Archaeology Museum and surronding the forest. The two buildings’ exterior have historical appearance. Also in the garden there are some historical sculpture.
