That Aella was the founder is stated in the box at the bottom of the page, but there isn't any positive evidence for it. The history of Deira before 600 A.D. is very obscure, although there is archeological evidence of Angle settlement as early as the 5th century, and the kingdom might have been founded at any time between the early 400s and the late 500s(whether or not by Soemil).
