TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau is a table tennis club based in Höhr-Grenzhausen, Germany. The men's team plays in the Bundesliga.

History

[edit]

In 1952, the then 16-year-old Manfred Gstettner founded the TTC Grenzau club. Manfred Gstettner is also the owner of the wellness hotel “Zugbrücke”, were the club is based. This allowed him to act as a sponsor for the club. In 1975, he opened a table tennis school where the top players of his club are taught. In 1982, the team was promoted to the 1st Men's Bundesliga. In its very first season in the Bundesliga in 1982/83, Grenzau took second place in the ETTU Cup. After a few years, the club was able to establish itself at the top of the Bundesliga. In 1986/87, the club won the triple with the first championship title, the German Cup and the European Cup; the European Cup was won for the second time the following year. Several more titles followed after that. After 2010, however, the club began to decline and played against relegation.
