The Fifth Round Scottish Cup match between Rangers and Queen's Park was a football match played on 9 February 2025. Despite being the away team from a lower division, Queen's Park ran out 1–0 winners. The match was described as "One of the greatest shocks in Scottish football history",[1] "one of the biggest upsets in Rangers' history, up alongside Cup defeats to Berwick Rangers and Hamilton..",[2] as well the defeat of Rangers being described as 'seismic' and a 'historic humiliation'.[3][4][5][6][7]
Background
[edit]Rangers came into the game on the back of 3 consecutive wins against Dundee United, Ross County and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League since their Europa League defeat to Manchester United F.C. on 23 January 2025. Queen's Park F.C. had only managed to get to the Fifth Round of the Cup by winning in extra time against Partick Thistle in the Third Round and then again against Montrose in the Fourth Round.
