Amtrak's Downeaster passes through the Scarborough Marsh in Scarborough, Maine, on tracks owned by Pan Am Railways in April 2011. The leading vehicle on this train is not a locomotive but rather a "cabbage car", a former F40PH that has had its prime mover and other equipment removed while the control cab remains for push mode operations; the empty space in the cabbage car is used for checked baggage.
