• 1992 - The Seattle Times ran an article reporting that Allison Andors and several other experts on Diatryma had concluded that the purported fossil Diatryma footprint of Flaming Geyser State Park, Washington state, USA the paper reported on May 3rd was actually a clever hoax. Nevertheless, ichnologists Martin Lockley and Adrian Hunt have since concluded that the track was legitimate after all.
