Patrik Kincl (born 21 July 1989) is a Czech professional Mixed Martial Artist competing in welterweight (-77 kg) and middleweight (-84 kg) weight classes. He fought in the most famous European organizations such as KSW, ACB, XFN, and OKTAGON where he won the middleweight championship.[1] Patrik is training in Hradec Králové in Gym All Sports Academy.[2]

Mixed martial arts career

[edit]

Kincl started MMA at Good Luck Gym in Hradec Králové under coach Jan Voborník. Later, he transferred to the All Sports Academy in Králové-Hradec, where he still works as an active fighter and coach.[3]

In the world rankings, Patrik Kincl is among the best placed CZ/SK fighters in the category up to 77 kg and 84 kg, where he is in the top 50-100 fighters in the world.[4]

In the KSW organization, where he worked from the end of 2020 to the second half of 2021, he earned the nickname "The Inspector".[5]

The second half of Patrik Kincl's MMA career so far is lined with title challenges. His first title shot was scheduled for 7 December 2013 in the welterweight division at GCF Fight Night when he challenged Pepa "Gorilla" Krále, but the bout did not take place due to an injury to the current title holder. In 2014, he became the interim champion of the Czech organization GCF, when he finished Valid Abdurachmanov by TKO in the first round. Abdurachmanov stepped in as a substitute for Robert Pukač, who was injured and could not fight. Another match in the GCF organization was the main match of the evening, when Hungarian László Soltésze who Kincl knocked out in the first round. Then Kincl signed a contract with the Russian organization ACB (today's ACA). There, after four matches, he was offered a title match with Albert Duraev, but in the end the match did not take place, as the opponent outweighed him by more than 5 kg. Kincl's next much-discussed match took place at the ACB 52 gala, when he finished Arbi Agujev by TKO in the third round. However, the president of the Russian ACB organization disagreed with the result and declared the result invalid. In 2018, Patrik Kincl received a last-minute ("short notice") offer from the UFC, where he was supposed to fight Neil Magny, Kincl turned down the UFC offer due to a fight with Karlos "Terminator" Vémola at the XFN 11 gala. He lost a heated duel with Vémola to points. The rematch with Karlos Vémola was announced by the XFN organization on 7 June 2019. However, there was no rematch as Vémola moved to the rival organization Oktagon. The XFN organization announced a replacement match on the same date, with Kincl scheduled to face Makhmud "Mach" Muradov in a title match. The match Kincl vs Muradov did not take place due to financial problems of the organizer (XFN).

At the end of 2019, Kincl signed with the biggest Polish MMA organization KSW, and scheduled a fight with Roberto Soldić for the KSW Welterweight title at KSW 50 in London. The match didn't take place as Kincl stepped out due to an elbow injury.[6]

KSW rebooked Kincl to fight legendary Michal Materla at KSW 53 on March 21 in Łódź, but the whole event was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.[7]

On 19 December 2020, at KSW 57, Kincl finally made his KSW debut against former UFC fighter Tomasz Drwal and knocked him out in the first round. On June 5, 2021, Kincl TKOed Tomasz Romanowski and secured titleshot against welterweight champion Roberto Soldić.[8]

On 4 September 2021, he was defeated by Croat Roberto Soldić in the 3rd round. He thus became only the third Czechoslovak representative in the KSW who fought for the title in this Polish organization.[9]

At the end of 2021, Patrik Kincl signed a contract with the Czechoslovak organization OKTAGON, and then in February 2022, he won the middleweight title in his first fight under this organization, defeating the interim champion Samuel "Pirate" Krištofič on points. He was able to defend the title of middleweight champion in September 2022 against the experienced French fighter Alex Lohoré, whom he finished in the 1st round after a high kick and a subsequent series of hard blows. It was the fastest title defense in the OKTAGON MMA organization up to that time. For the victory over Alex Lohoré, Kincl won the performance of the night.[10]

Towards the end of 2022, the Kincl vs Vémola rematch was again approaching. This time in the organization OKTAGON MMA. However, the rematch did not take place in 2022 due to Karlos Vémola's health problems. At the end of 2022, Patrik Kincl was announced as a seeded participant in the Tipsport Game Changer pyramid (pyramid in the category up to 77 kg with a shared prize of 1 million Euros), but in the end he preferred a rematch with Karlos Vémola and at the same time a second title defense in the OKTAGON MMA organization in the middleweight category. The long-awaited rematch, for which the entire domestic scene has been waiting for 5 long years, took place in May 2023 at the OKTAGON 43 tournament in an almost sold-out O2 Arena. Here, with the great support of the fans, Patrik clearly defeated his rival on points and successfully defended the middleweight champion belt of the OKTAGON MMA organization for the second time.[11]
