Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui is a major general in the Bangladesh Army who is the incumbent director general of the Border Guard Bangladesh.[2] Prior to his promotion to major general, he served as the director of the Army Sports Control Board as a brigadier general.[3]
Siddiqui is the chairman of Shimanto Bank.[4] He was the director of the Internal Affairs Bureau of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence.[5]
Career
[edit]Siddiqui joined the Bangladesh Military Academy received his commission on 10 December 1992.[6]
Siddiqui also served as commander, 11th Artillery Brigade and director,[5] Internal Affairs Bureau of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence.[7] He was the chairman of the Army Sports Control Board.[8] He was the director of Military Training Directorate.[8]
Siddiqui was the head of the risk management committee and trustee board member of Trust Bank Limited.[6] He served in United Nations Mission in Sudan and the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea.[6][9]
On 30 January 2024, Siddiqui was appointed director general of the Border Guards Bangladesh replacing Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan.[10] The deputy secretary of the Public Administration ministry, Abdullah Arif Mohammad, signed the gazette notification.[11]
In February 2024, Siddiqui said that he would not allow any more Rohingya people to enter Bangladesh from Myanmar.[12]
