World's Largest Menorah
[edit]The Lubavitch Youth Organization organizes the annual lighting of the World's Largest Menorah at Grand Army Plaza near Central Park in Manhattan, New York City. First established in 1977, this public Hanukkah event features a 32-foot menorah designed by Israeli artist Yaacov Agam, built to the maximum height permitted by Jewish law (Halacha). The nightly ceremonies, led for decades by Rabbi Shmuel M. Butman, include traditional Hanukkah foods, live music, and participation from public officials and thousands of attendees.[10][11][12][13]
