Kim Dong-su (Korean: 김동수, born 1978 in Daejeon, South Korea) is a Korean picture book author and illustrator. Kim studied Western painting at Dongduk Women's University. In 2001, The Invincible Rubber Band-Powered Machine won the grand prize at the Korea Publishing Art Exhibition organized by the Korea Publishing Art Association, and was selected as one of the top 100 Korean picture books at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2005.[1] In 2002, The Day I Caught a Cold won an honorable mention at the Borim Creative Picture Book Contest. Her nothable works include The Day I Caught a Cold, The Invincible Rubber Motor, and Give Mommy a Kiss. These books were all exhibited at the Guadalajara International Book Fair in 2016 under the theme of '49 Korean Picture Books Recognized by the World.'[2] At the Paris Book Fair in 2016, they were part of the 130 picture books representing Korea in the exhibition 'Seven Emotions in 130 Picture Books[3]'.[4]
