Khalil Davis (born August 22, 1996) is an American professional football defensive tackle for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Nebraska. He has been a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, and Birmingham Stallions.
College career
[edit]A four-star recruit, Davis committed to Nebraska over offers from Arkansas, Indiana, and Oregon, among other schools.[1] He made 11 starts in 47 games. He was named the Cornhuskers' Defensive Lineman of the Year in both 2018 and 2019 seasons, after recording 11.0 sacks and 26 tackles for loss. He had eight sacks as a senior and led Nebraska with 45 tackles.[2]

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (first stint)
[edit]At the NFL Combine, Davis ran the 40-yard dash in 4.75 seconds, the sixth-fastest time for a defensive lineman.[5] He was selected with the 194th overall pick of the 2020 NFL draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.[5] Davis earned a Super Bowl championship when the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV.[6][7]
On October 2, 2021, Davis was waived by the Buccaneers.[8]
Indianapolis Colts
[edit]On October 5, 2021, the Indianapolis Colts claimed Davis off waivers.[9] On October 30, 2021, Davis was waived by the Colts.[10]
Pittsburgh Steelers
[edit]On November 2, 2021, Davis was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad.[11] He signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers on January 18, 2022.[12]
On August 30, 2022, Davis was waived by the Steelers.[13]
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (second stint)
[edit]On September 21, 2022, Davis was signed to the Buccaneers practice squad.[14] He was released on November 29.[15]
Los Angeles Rams
[edit]On December 14, 2022, Davis signed with the practice squad of the Los Angeles Rams.[16] His practice squad contract expired when the team's season ended on January 9, 2023.
Birmingham Stallions
[edit]On March 28, 2023, Davis signed with the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League (USFL).[17] He was released from his contract on July 27, 2023, to sign with an NFL team.[18]
Houston Texans
[edit]On August 6, 2023, Davis signed with the Houston Texans.[19] He was waived on August 29, 2023 and re-signed to the practice squad.[20][21] He was promoted to the active roster on September 30.[22]

Personal life
[edit]Davis is the twin brother of Carlos Davis. Khalil and Carlos were adopted by their parents Carl and Tracy Davis when they were nine months old.[23]
