It's the name Which they gave to specifically the "Luo tribe" in Bahr El Ghazal and since they are the majority in South Sudan, the name spread like wildfire and they even started using it in government offices by forcing Luo people to accept that name (Jur), As being a native Luo from Bahr El Ghazal, We call ourselves Luo and speak Luo language, No "Jur" word in Luo language even! undo Tags: Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit

"Jur" is not in our language and we do not know its meaning, except the Dinka who impose it on us. In Dinka, "Jur" means non Dinka. We consider either of the two terms, Jur or Jurchol therefore, as an abusive term referring to our Luo people of Bahr El Ghazal by the Dinka people and is now being imposed on our people by them.
