Gymnodactylus darwinii is a species of gecko in the family Phyllodactylidae. The species is endemic to Brazil.[2]
Etymology
[edit]The specific name, darwinii, is in honor of English naturalist Charles Darwin.[3]
Geographic range
[edit]G. darwinii is found in eastern Brazil.[2]
Habitat
[edit]The preferred natural habitats of G. darwinii are forest and shrubland.[1]
Description
[edit]Adults of G. darwinii have a snout-to-vent length of about 3.5 cm (1.4 in).[1]
Diet
[edit]G. darwinii preys upon isopods, orthopterans, and other small arthropods.[1]
Reproduction
[edit]G. darwinii is oviparous.[2] Communal nesting has been observed.[1]
