Groupe Délice
The Délice Group is a group from Tunisia specializing in the Food industry, primarily focused on the dairy industry. In 1978, Hamdi Meddeb founded his first company, the Société Tunisienne des Industries Alimentaires (STIAL), with the help of the Industrial Promotion and Decentralization Fund.[1] Specializing in yogurt and dairy products, it gradually became a leader in Tunisia’s dairy industry, holding 30% of the market share by 1993.[1]
With the foundation of the Centrale Laitière du Cap-Bon, specializing in the production, packaging, and marketing of milk and dairy products, and the Société de Commerce et de Gestion (Socoges), responsible for distribution, the core of the Délice Group was established,[1] attracting the interest of multinational companies like Danone. In 1998, Meddeb formed a partnership with Danone, which acquired 50% of STIAL[2] and Socoges.[1]
In 2005-2006, the group ended its partnership with Virgin Cola[3]
On 15 September 2014, the Délice Group was listed on the Bourse de Tunis, one of the most significant operations on the exchange, while Meddeb held 81.96% of the capital until that point.[1] By the end of the year, the group reported a turnover of 660.6 million dinars with a net profit of 39 million dinars.[1]
