George Anderson is a Canadian lawyer and politician who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in the 2024 general election. He represents the electoral district of Nanaimo-Lantzville as a member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party.[1] Anderson previously served for three years on Nanaimo City Council and the Regional District of Nanaimo after being elected in the 2011 municipal election.[2]

Early life and career

Anderson was born and raised in Nanaimo, British Columbia.[3] In 2015, he graduated from Vancouver Island University with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in criminology.[4] He later attended Osgoode Hall Law School,[2] and practiced as a commercial lawyer for over six years prior to entering provincial politics.[3]

Anderson has held numerous volunteer roles, including as the chair of Vancouver Island University's board of governors, a volunteer for the Canadian Bar Association's Access to Justice Committee, and a member of the Nanaimo Art Gallery's board of directors.[5][6] In 2016, Anderson received the B.C. Achievement Award in recognition of his community service.[2]
