The Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a higher education and research institution that trains staff for prosecution and investigative bodies based on a unified approach. It offers continuous education systems in bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral programs, as well as retraining and professional development. [1] [2] [3]

History of the Academy's Formation
[edit]A certain educational and scientific potential has been formed in the organs of the prosecutor's office of Uzbekistan. Before gaining independence, professional development of staff was carried out by the qualification upgrading courses of the Prosecutor's Office of the Uzbek SSR. By the Resolution No. 33 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 24, 1992 [4], issues on organizing the activities of the prosecutor's offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Center for Resilience of Legislation and Professional Development of Prosecutorial and Investigative Workers was established under the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the Decree No. PD-727 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 7, 2007 [5], the Higher Educational Courses of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan were established on the basis of the Center for Resilience of Legislation and Professional Development of Prosecutorial and Investigative Workers.
To create a modern system of training, retraining, and professional development of staff, and to strengthen the scientific and analytical potential of prosecutor office bodies, the Decree PD–5438 [6] of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 8, 2018 "On Fundamental Improvement of the System of Training, Retraining, and Professional Development of Prosecutor Staff" was adopted. According to the Decree, the Academy of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established on the basis of the Higher Educational Courses.
To radically increase the efficiency of the training and retraining system for highly qualified specialists in the field of investigation in response to the reforms and requirements of the time in Uzbekistan, the Decree PD–257 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 28, 2022 [7], "On Implementing a New Quality System for Training Qualified Conductors of Criminal Investigations" was adopted. According to the Decree, the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established on the basis of the Academy of the General Prosecutor's Office.
Bachelor's Degree
[edit]Starting from the 2023/2024 academic year, the academy offers bachelor's programs in: - "Investigative Activities" - education on a state grant basis, duration of study is 3 years. - "Prosecutorial Activities" - education on a state grant and paid contract basis, duration of study is 4 years. - "Prosecutorial Activities" - external education form on a paid contract basis, duration of study is 5 years.
Master's Degree
[edit]The academy's master's programs train specialists in the following specialties: - "Prosecutorial Activities" - "Investigative Activities" - "Combating Corruption" - "International Law on Human Rights"
Professional Retraining Courses
[edit]Professional retraining courses are mandatory basic specialization forms for those newly accepted into service in authorized state bodies, appointed as investigators or inquiries (no less than 576 hours); mandatory basic specialization forms for those newly accepted into service in prosecutor's bodies (no less than 576 hours); professional retraining courses for reserved personnel aiming to hold managerial positions in prosecutor's bodies (no less than 576 hours); professional retraining courses for authorized state body staff aiming to be appointed as investigators or inquiries (no less than 288 hours).
Qualification Improvement Courses
[edit]Improving the qualifications of personnel in the fields of investigation and other activities of law enforcement is one of the main directions of the academy's activities. A qualification improvement system requiring authorized state body's inquiry and investigative structure workers, as well as all units of prosecutor's office staff, to undergo training at least once every three years with a duration of no less than 144 hours has been implemented.

Scientific Research and Training of Scientific Personnel
[edit]Under the academy operates an academic council awarding scientific degrees in the specialties 12.00.01 - (Theory and history of state and law. History of legal doctrines), 12.00.07 (Judicial power. Prosecutor supervision. Law enforcement activities. Advocacy), 12.00.09 (Criminal process. Criminalistics, operational-search law and forensic examination), and 12.00.12 (Problems of corruption). Moreover, special one-time academic councils operate in the following specialties: 12.00.03 - (Civil law. Entrepreneurial law. Family law. International private law), 12.00.04 - (Civil procedural law. Economic procedural law. Arbitration process and mediation), 12.00.05 - (Labor law. Social security law), 12.00.08 - (Criminal law and criminology. Penal law).
