"The Beach" is an American electropop song made by alternative rock band The Neighbourhood. The song is part of thier fifth studio album, Wiped Out![1] The song was created on September 24, 2015, published by Columbia Records. The song was written by Jesse Rutherford, Zach Abels, E. Kidd Bogart, Justyn Pilbrow, and Jeremy Freedman.[2] The song went TikTok viral, alongside other songs released by The Neighbourhood, such as Softcore, Sweater Weather, Reflections, You Get Me So High, and Daddy Issues accumulating millions of views of the past few years.[3]

The song would become viral across several Social Media platforms, such as TikTok, Youtube Shorts, and Instagram, for its lyrics, in which several listeners related to. "The Beach" reached its peak on Spotify on September 25, 2015, a day after its release, reaching over 60,000 listens in one day.[4][5]

The Beach was considered a sleeper hit, alongside Sweater Weather, Softcore, and Daddy issues. It was reviewed decently well, alongside it being part of its album, Wiped Out! The album it was part of was described by KRUI Radio as "Overall, listening to Wiped Out! is like drifting underwater in a sun soaked pool. It’s a little dangerous, very relaxing, and a whole lot of fun. Feel free to dive in."[12] Metacritic rates Wiped Out! a 53/100 on metascore, but user reviews rate Wiped Out! an 8.2. Metacritic users describe Wiped Out! as a smooth, and catchy album that is nice to listen to.[13]

Google says that 99% of the listeners to the album enjoyed it. Reddit users seem to enjoy the song, according to several comments.[14] The Daily Listening reviews The Beach as "I imagine “The Beach” to have a music video that involves the drowning of a soul of some sort, as the track gives off a hazy, defeated vibe – haunting us with the chorus, “I hope I don’t murder me / I hope I don’t burden you” – a notion that runs rampant throughout your mind when all you want is someone to be genuine with in a world of people hiding behind masks."[15]
