Draft:Superhero fatigue

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Superhero fatigue is a term used by critics and audiences to describe the feeling of unsatisfaction surrounding what is considered over-exposure of the superhero film genre. Individuals have notably pointed out that the terminology saw an uptick amount of usage following the release of Avengers: Endgame, which set off the beginning of the Multiverse Saga and the introduction of Phase Four and Phase Five in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), although it had also been referred to in some instances from years prior. Films released during these eras may have also been considered by some to be inferior in quality compared to ones released prior, with release dates being less spread out in an effort to fill up release schedules.

History

[edit]

Some of the earliest usage of the term "superhero fatigue" can be traced back to the releases of DC's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Marvel's Captain America: Civil War throughout early 2016.

A resurgence in its usage surged in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame
