Studio IAM Co., Ltd. (Korean: 스튜디오 아이엠; RR: Seu-tyu-di-oh Ah-ie-em) is a South Korean animation studio located in Seoul. The studio specializes in 2D animation and is equipped with a pre-production and main-production department. Although the studio may not be widely known, the founder: Hei Chul Kang is well-known in the animation industry. He's known to have contributed and worked on many projects prior to the foundation of the studio. Presently, the studio is mostly known for having participated in the main-production animation services for the adult animated superhero series: Creature Commandos, released by streaming platform: HBO Max, based from the DC comics and created by James Gunn. Other shows include the series: ^[1] and Batman: Caped Crusader.

History

Studio IAM was co-founded in July of 2017 by Hei Chul Kang and Miok Kwon^[2]. Hei Chul Kang started working in the animation industry since 1995. He began with clean-up work and shortly after, moved on to key-animation. With 20 years of experience, he was in charge of storyboarding for [The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf] (2021) and directed some big shows such as Lookism ^[3] (2022) and The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep ^[4] (2025). He decided on the Studio's name: "I AM" meaning to define that the base of the company doesn't only indicate one person but relies on all the artists and employees. Hoping for everyone to keep in mind, "I AM" the studio, I make the studio. Co-founder Miok Kwon started as an in-between artist dating back to 1987. With two extremely experienced veterans leading the company, the studio is in high expectations to what they'll be able to offer to the audience of animation lovers.^[5]

Studio IAM has worked with many leading production and distribution companies such as WBA (Warner Bros. Animation), HBO Max, Netflix, Nexon and also co-produced many projects with Studio Mir. The studio's signature style is mostly focused on american-style and cartoon illustration therefore majority of the animation that the studio's done was aired in the States, however that doesn't mean that they can't assimilate other art styles since they've done projects contrast to their usual works as well such as PVs for upcoming game updates and show teasers.
