Shallow Alcove is an American indie folk band formed in Syracuse, New York, in 2019. The group is fronted by vocalists and guitarists Grace Krichbaum and Dan Harris, with members Peter Groppe, Jack Harrington, and Noah Dardaris.
History
[edit]Shallow Alcove formed in 2020, with its founding members meeting through the vibrant DIY music scene in Syracuse University. The group began playing intimate house shows and quickly gained attention for their heartfelt performances and relatable songwriting.[1][2]
Their first EP, Acting Tough, was released on May 14th, 2021.
Their original song "Dream Song" gained significant attention on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, contributing to their growing popularity.[3][4][5] In 2023, the band was included in Spotify’s prestigious Fresh Finds: Class of 2023, a curated selection of up-and-coming artists recognized for their potential and rising popularity in the music scene. The band’s track "Dream Song", from their EP Keepsakes, was a key factor in their inclusion, drawing attention for its unique sound and growing fanbase. The recognition helped propel the band’s exposure on global streaming platforms.[6][7]
The band released their second EP, also on December 6th, 2023, titled Keepsakes.
In November 2023, Shallow Alcove announced that they will be the supporting act for Tiny Habits on their "Little Bit Farther" headlining tour in Europe during spring of 2024.[8][9][10]
In 2024, Shallow Alcove embarked on their first headline tour in June.[11][12] Later that year in the Fall, they joined The Staves as an opening act on their acoustic US tour.[13][14]
In August 2024, the band performed an Audiotree Live session, which was recorded in their studio. The set included fan favorites like Dream Song and Heart-Shaped Locket off their EP "Keepsakes". The session was later released as a live video and audio recording, available on various streaming platforms on January 7th, 2025.[15]
