Rosa Faenskap are a Norwegian black metal band.

History

The band originated in 2021, at the anarchist social centre Blitz House in Oslo.[1] The members at the time all studied musicology at the University of Oslo.[2] They recorded their first single in 2021, and in 2023 they began working on their debut album, Jeg blir til deg, which was released on 3 November 2023 by Fysisk Format.[3]

Members

Rosa Faenskap are guitarist and songwriter Emil Vestre, bassist and vocalist Håvard Solli, and drummer Anders Jansvik.[3] All members contribute background vocals.[2]

Genre

Rosa Faenskap describe their genre as "patricidal black metal". Their music is also inspired by post-rock, shoegaze, hardcore punk,[3] and progressive rock.[1]

The band's lyrics focus on queer issues, as well as class differences and capitalism, drug policy, patriarchy and fascism.[3][1] Rosa Faenskap seek to challenge far-right attitudes,[2] machismo,[4] and purism within black metal culture.[5]
