Submission declined on 21 February 2025 by Reading Beans (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Palmyra is an American folk trio from Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley[1][2] The band was established in 2020 by members Mānoa Bell (Cello), Teddy Chipouras (Banjo, Guitar), and Sasha Landon (Mandolin, Guitar).
The band's musical style is a combination of southern influences, like the Avett Brothers and Old Crow Medicine Show, as well as post-rock/emo influence including My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses, and Cat Power. They have been described as “proto-bluegrass.”[3] Their lyrics are inspired by vulnerable topics such as mental illness, gender identity, and grief.
History
[edit]The three met as college students at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. They began playing and writing music together after being enrolled in the same songwriting class. After graduating in 2020, they moved around often, first to Boston, Massachusetts, then to Floyd, Virginia, finally settling in Richmond, Virginia, where they are currently based. They were also touring during this time and maintained an active road lifestyle.[3]
The name “Palmyra” stems from the Houndmouth song of the same name.[3]
Career
[edit]In 2024, Palmyra signed with Oh Boy Records. Since, they have released two EPs (Belladonna, Surprise No.1) and three singles, “Shape I’m In”, “Arizona" and "Palm Readers", in support of their second album Restless released March 28th, 2025. Before signing, they had self-released one full-length album Shenandoah and an EP, Silk & Glade Sessions.
