Padbury Village Football Club are a football club based in Padbury, Buckinghamshire, England. Affiliated to the Berks & Bucks Football Association, they are currently members of the Spartan South Midlands League, playing in Division Two.[1]

History

[edit]

The club was founded in 2011 after the former football club in Padbury, Padbury United, relocated in search of facilities that met the requirements to allow them to progress higher up the English Football Pyramid.

Padbury Village FC became members of the North Bucks & District Football League in 2011 and spent 8 seasons competing in the division until 2019, where they had no senior men's side.

In June 2023, after 4 years without a senior side, the club appointed Ashley McAndrew Hack as manager alongside a coaching team of Ben Gold (Assistant Manager) and Rafe Birch White (Coach). The club re-entered the North Bucks & District Football League into the Premier Division and finished 2nd in their inaugural season achieving promotion into Spartan South Midlands League.[2] The club also progressed to the quarter-finals of the Berks & Bucks FA Charles Twelftree County Cup but were beaten 3-2 at Springfields by the eventual winners, Burghfield FC. [3] [4]

Prior to the beginning of the 2024-25 season, the club needed to address a number of minor facilities upgrades in order to fulfil ground grading requirements to be accepted into Step 7 football which included the acquisition of portable dugouts.[5] In June 2024, Rafe Birch White stepped down from his role as first team coach to become the Club Secretary and Nick Farrow became a player-coach.

Ground

[edit]

Since their inception, the club have played at Springfields (Padbury Playing Fields) which is owned by Padbury Parish Council and is situated behind Springfields housing estate.[6] The ground is shared in the summer with Padbury Cricket Club, although there is no active cricket team in the village.

The ground has no stands or seated capacity but does have a multi-purpose pavilion which is used by the club. The ground also has no floodlights and no permanent pitch perimeter barriers.
