Pär Olofsson (born 15 May 1973) is a Swedish composer and conductor of classical music based in Stockholm. Although he has composed music for a wide variety of genres and ensembles, the majority of his output is vocal- and ecclesiastical music.

Biography

Olofsson was born in Stockholm, Sweden.[2] He graduated from Stockholms Musikgymnasium in 1992 and recieved his first higher education at Karolinska Institutet (KI) training as a physician. After graduating medical school in 1999, Pär was accepted to the Royal College of music in Stockholm where he studied organ, piano, conducting, voice and composition before he graduated With a master´s degree in church music in 2003. In 2018, Olofsson also recieved a master´s degree in film scoring after studies at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm and Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Since 2002, Pär Olofsson has held the position of music director of King Oscar´s Church in central Stockholm.

Pär Olofsson is a member of the Swedish Composer´s Society since 2012.[3]

Pär Olofsson has recieved commissions for his works from Vokalharmonin,[4] KammarensembleN, Västerås Cathedral,[5] Engelbrekts Parish, Oscars Parish, Ersta diakonisällskap, Salt Lake City Vocal Artists[6] and S:t Jacobs Chamber Choir[7]

As conductor, he has won several awards at international choir competitions such as: Venezia in musica, Llangollen International musical Eisteddfod, Florilège Vocal de Tours, Musica eterna a Roma[8] and Salzburg choral celebration[9] . Olofsson has also ajudicated competitions[10] and held workshops in Europe and Japan.

Olofssons works have recieved notices and reviews in Dagens Nyheter,[11] Kyrkomusikernas Tidning, Kyrkokörjournalen, Kyrkans tidning[12] and the blog Records.christmas[13]

Olofsson was awarded the Crux Magna Medicorum in 2000,[14] The ICEP conducting fellow scholarship in 2015[15] and Japanstiftelsen´s travel grant for studies of Japanese culture[16]

Pär Olofsson is published by Gehrmans Musikförlag, Bo Ejeby förlag[17] Parolofssonmusic publishing and Footprint records.[18]
