Loungo "Fruity" Masire

Loungo Masire is a South African actress [1] [2],Writer and Producer. [3] [4] She is best known for her roles on a Netflix film Lobola Man [5] playing the bride's aunt (2024) and on Showmax Youngings Season 2 [6] as Patricia "Palesa's mom" (2025).

Loungo Known as "Fruity" was born and raised in Mahikeng, South Africa.

Career

In 1999, she started her acting career at the North West Arts Council now known as Mmabana Arts, Cultural and sports Center "Mmabana Head Office". During this time, she completed a Full time Drama course under Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom and the North west Arts Council. After being in a few theater productions she was casted on her first role on Television where she played "Maphefo" a troubled teenage girl on the The SABC 2 Television series "Orlando" in 2000. She later moved to Pretoria in 2005 and joined with The South African State Theatre Development "ARAS", where she got the opportunity to study again under Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom. She acted in many stage plays written and directed by Grootboom such as in The Shakespearean plays he adopted and directed ; A midsummers night dream as "Titania " 2001 and King Lear [7] 2003 as she portrayed "Goneril" while she was still very young. She was later on his big theatrical productions such as Cards, Relativity- Township stories https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2006/aug/25/theatre.edinburgh2006 in 2006 playing "Dorah", she went on a 3- Month tour with the production to United Kingdom and played at a number of festivals including the Edinburg Festival .She was also on Paul Grootboom's Interracial which performed in South Africa and in Vienna ,Austria in 2008 [8] .

She has since been casted on many theater productions such as Nasty Burn playing "Sasa" which performed at the Maitisong Festival in Botswana [9] 2017. During the years Loungo has been casted in many cameo and supporting roles on Television productions such as The Queen season 6 [10] with role of the "Gynaecologist", "Detective Mahapa" on the Award winning telenovela "The River" [11] , "Social worker" on The Estate season 2 [12] , "Thuli" on Generations -The legacy [13] ,"Happy" on Unmarried season 3 [14] "Mrs Ingwe" on The Imposter season 2 [15] ,Iron Hard in 2015 [16] , Becoming Mrs Nkosaza [17] as "Madhlomo",The Republic as "President Decoy " [18] 016FM as "The board chairperson" [19] (2024).

Fruity has also Written and Produced her own musical theater production in 2022 about the life of struggle icon Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati titled "I AM RUTH" which performed in Mahikeng [20]
