The following is a list of rivalries between U.S. states.
List
[edit]California–Texas rivalry

The California–Texas rivalry is the rivalry between California and Texas. The rivalry mainly exists due to the two states usually being opposed politically due to California being progressive while generally supporting the Democratic Party and Texas being conservative while generally supporting the Republican Party.[1][2]
Michigan–Ohio
[edit]The Michigan–Ohio rivalry is the rivalry between Michigan and Ohio. The rivalry started in 1835 with the Toledo War, a boundary dispute between Michigan and Ohio over the ownership of the Toledo Strip. The Toledo War may have been what caused the American football rivalry between the two states.[3]
Minnesota–Wisconsin rivalry
[edit]The Minnesota–Wisconsin rivalry is the rivalry between Minnesota and Wisconsin. The American football teams Minnesota Golden Gophers and Wisconsin Badgers have played against each other annually since 1890 except in 1906 when Theodore Roosevelt suspended college football rivalry games for safety concerns due to player injuries and fatalities.[4][5]
