To prepare students for global citizenship, LIH Bilingual School immerses all students in the study of multiple languages. The immersion approach varies by grade level. Students from 18 months to Kindergarten[5] are immersed in either English/French or English/Spanish. From 1st grade through 5th grade, core subjects are taught in the primary language of either English, French, or Spanish, while specials such as art, gym, and library are taught in the second language, along with a daily hour-long second language class. Students in 6th grade through 12th grade attend a daily intensive second language class and have extensive third language options. In addition to English, French, and Spanish, the school often offers languages such as Arabic, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and Russian.
