Gabriel Torres, professionally known as KiD G Oficial, is an American artist and musician of Dominican descent. Born in New York City, he began exploring music at the age of 14. Through talent, discipline, and perseverance, he became a prominent figure in Latin Hip Hop, Reggaeton, House music, and Merengue Hip Hop, blending tropical sounds with urban rhythms.
Early Career
In 1997, KiD G debuted with a breakthrough collaboration alongside Tito, one of the pioneers of Latin reggae music. Their song “Ay la Mafia Latina” topped the Billboard charts for eight consecutive weeks, helping to popularize Spanish reggae in Puerto Rico.
In 1998, he contributed to the evolution of Merengue Hip Hop with the hit song “Sin Duda”, a collaboration with radio personality El Boy from Bonao on La Mega 97.9.
Rise to Prominence
In 2002, KiD G joined the group Fuera de Ley under the FLIA label. The group gained significant attention with their reggaeton remake of Toño Rosario’s “Mami ta’ Cruza” (Culikitaca), produced by Alex Sensation.
His versatility as an artist led to a role in the New York City stage production Plátanos and Collard Greens, which highlighted Black and Latino cultural unity and received critical acclaim from The New York Times. Around this time, KiD G also collaborated with Dominican artist El Krispy on the successful single “Ajena”.
In 2007, he signed with Jam Master Jay’s Más Face Records, where he worked with Onyx and other pioneers of English rap.
