Kety Fusco is a classically trained harpist who has revolutionized the world of harp music, pushing the instrument’s boundaries toward a new musical genre. With her visionary approach, she has transformed the harp into a unique and leading voice, blending tradition and innovation to explore uncharted sonic territories.

Biography

[edit]

Kety Fusco was born in Pisa and began playing the harp at the age of six. Shortly after, she was admitted to the Luigi Boccherini Conservatory in Lucca, where she began her musical education.
From a young age, she participated in international competitions, earning accolades such as the award at the 7th Young Harpists Music Exhibition in Lastra a Signa (Florence) and the XIV National Competition Riviera della Versilia in Viareggio (Lucca).

After graduating from high school with a specialization in socio-psycho-pedagogical studies, Kety completed her bachelor’s degree in harp in the same year.
She then moved to Brescia to attend the Luca Marenzio Conservatory, where she completed her master’s degree in harp. In 2012, she took an intensive course with Maestro Mogol at the European Center of Toscolano (CET), composing the pop piece La settima di Dominante, which was selected among the best for the final concert.

In 2013, she moved to Switzerland, to Mesocco, where her father lives, and enrolled in the Master of Arts in Music Performance at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, completing it in 2016.
During these years, she performed with the Venetian Philharmonic "Gianfrancesco Malipiero" the Orchestra da Camera di Lugano, and the Giuseppe Verdi Philharmonic Orchestra of Calci, performing works such as Danse sacrée et danse profane by Claude Debussy.

Career and Achievements

[edit]

Kety Fusco has established herself as one of the most innovative and revolutionary harpists in the contemporary music scene, pushing the harp beyond the boundaries of traditional music.
As the founder of Floating Notes Records, the first record label dedicated to experimental music in the Grisons region, she has combined classical tradition with cutting-edge electronic language, creating a new dimension for the instrument.

Her career has been marked by significant performances on international stages. A standout moment was her invitation to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where she achieved a sold-out concert, showcasing global recognition of her artistry.
She has also performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, sharing the stage with music legends such as Jeff Mills, and at the Paleo Festival.

Kety also performed at the prestigious Notte della Taranta, under the artistic direction of Dardust, featuring Stromae.
Additionally, Kety has participated in major showcase festivals such as Eurosonic in Groningen (Netherlands), the MAMA Festival in Paris, and the Wave Festival in Vienna.

Her impact extends beyond the music scene into cultural and social initiatives. She was invited by the President of the Swiss Confederation to perform, contributing her music to numerous causes, including the 50th anniversary of women’s suffrage in Ticino and the Ticino League Against Cancer, demonstrating her constant commitment to her community and roots.

Kety Fusco created the Floating Notes Festival, a groundbreaking event featuring internationally renowned artists such as Mike Cooper, Daniela Pes, and Lubomyr Melnyk.
Among her innovative projects is the release of the sound library Beyond the Harp, which was awarded "Best Database of the Month" by Musitech, expanding creative possibilities for composers and producers.

Winner of the SUISA Get Going competition, Kety Fusco is pursuing a visionary project to develop a new harp designed to broaden its sonic spectrum and adapt to the needs of musicians with unique compositions.
This ambitious project aims to make the instrument more versatile, allowing musicians to explore new sonic horizons.

Kety was mentioned by The Guardian for her experimental album The Harp - Chapter I, which has been praised for its ability to redefine the musical language of the harp, blending tradition and innovation. She was also selected and broadcast by Iggy Pop on BBC Radio, a recognition that further solidified her international reputation.

Throughout her career, Kety has received numerous accolades, including an invitation to perform at the United Nations' Global Festival of Action.
She was invited by Agnes Obel to open her concerts on tour and composed the soundtrack for the RAI Radio3 program "Voci in Barcaccia". She has also taken on the roles of actress and composer for a film directed by Michele Pennetta, set to be released in 2025, featuring actors such as Lena Garrel, Carlotta Gamba, and Costantino Seghi.

Since the beginning of her career as a performer, Kety has dedicated herself exclusively to her art, solidifying her status as an independent artist and a reference point in the contemporary music scene.
In 2025, her upcoming album will mark a new phase in her musical evolution, further enriching her already extraordinary artistic journey.
