Plot

Claire Hiller, an American divorcée residing in Rome, leads a seemingly content life with her teenage daughter, Robin, a talented pianist who communicates through sign language due to selective mutism. On the day of an important audition, Robin is involved in a severe bicycle accident and is declared clinically dead for 20 minutes. Miraculously, she revives, but Claire soon notices unsettling changes in her daughter's behavior. Robin begins speaking after years of silence and exhibits uncharacteristically rebellious and sinister traits. As these disturbing behaviors escalate, Claire becomes convinced that something malevolent has followed her daughter back from the brink of death.
