Han knew that he would lose his status as a diplomat because of this and it would've been likely that he was going to be sent to a labor camp or be sent to death. He escaped from the North Korean Embassy in Hanoi and then started running to the South Korean Embassy. Han was being chased by the Vietnamese Police who were trying to deport Han to North Korea for punishment. Han successfully ran to the South Korean Embassy and was deported instead, to South Korea.
