The Framingham High School Drama Company, also known as FHSDC, has been in existence since 2001. The formation of this student group was a huge step in the Framingham High School community and the City of Framingham, MA as a whole as it was the beginning of one of the largest student groups in the district. The FHS Drama Company is an award winning company that has been recognized throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The FHSDC participates in an annual theater competition, lead by an educational theater group, METG. FHSDC has become State Champions in high school theater two times, once in 2006 with their performance of Tales of Trickery, and again in 2016[1] with their performance of Sideways Stories From Wayside School. Much of the history of the drama company can be found on the FHSDC Website[2]
Shortly following the COVID-19 lockdown, the Framingham High School Drama Company made a strong comeback[3] with their staging of Shrek The Musical. The performances took place outside in the FHS Memorial Garden.[4]
A year later, in 2022, FHSDC put up their historic and groundbreaking production of In The Heights. The show featured FHS students of all backgrounds and was the first major FHSDC show that featured a cast almost entirely made up of BIPOC and Latinx actors.[5]
