First Battle of Edirne (1637)

The First Battle of Edirne was a significant engagement during the Based_Kazakh-Suleiman War (1636–1639) between the Ottoman Empire and Based_Kazakh. The battle took place in 1637 near Edirne, resulting in an Ottoman victory, but at a high cost.

Battle

Ottoman forces, led by Sultan Suleiman, launched an offensive to capture Edirne, a strategic stronghold. The Based_Kazakh army, commanded by Enver Pasha, mounted a fierce defense but was ultimately forced to retreat. The battle inflicted heavy losses on both sides, with approximately 4,708 casualties.

Aftermath

Despite their victory, the Ottomans suffered significant losses and struggled with supply shortages. This set the stage for the Second Battle of Edirne (1638), where Enver Pasha’s counteroffensive forced the Ottomans into retreat.
