Faculty of Humanities of the University of Rzeszow - one of the fifteen faculties of University of Rzeszow.

It was established 1.01.2025 as a result of the division of the former College of Humanities of the University of Rzeszow, comprising disciplinary institutes - the Institute of Archaeology, the Institute of Philosophy, the Institute of History, the Institute of Linguistics, the Institute of Literary Studies, the Institute of Music and the Institute of Fine Arts. The Faculty continues the traditions of the former Faculty of Sociology and History, meritorious for the establishment and development of the University of Rzeszow, which existed from 1994-2019, and included the Institute of Archaeology, the Institute of Philosophy, the Institute of History, the Institute of Political Science and the Institute of Sociology. The Faculty of Humanities is, according to the Senate of the University Resolution of December 16, 2024, one of the fifteen faculties operating within the University of Rzeszow.

The Faculty of Humanities includes two disciplinary institutes - the Institute of Archaeology and the Institute of History, as well as the European Interdisciplinary Research Center for Borderland Cultural Convergence and the Laboratory of Digital Archaeology and Source Research (formerly the University's Archaeological Materials Repository). The Department offers undergraduate and graduate studies in four fields of study: Archaeology, History, Cultural Studies and Historical and Cultural Tourism. The two scientific disciplines represented within the Faculty (Archaeology and History) are the only ones at the University of Rzeszow that have been continuously awarded the A scientific category since 2017.

The Faculty of Humanities is authorized to confer the degree of Doctor of Humanities and the degree of Doctor of Humanities in the disciplines of archaeology and history. The Faculty publishes prestigious scientific journals: “Anabasis. Studia Classica et Orientalia”, ‘Analecta Archaeologica Resoviensia’, ”Galicia. Studies and Materials”, ‘Materials and Reports of the Rzeszow Archaeological Center’ and ‘UR Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences’.

The the Dean's Office and the Institute of History are located in Building A1 of the University of Rzeszow (16c T. Rejtana Avenue), the Institute of Archaeology is located at 10 Moniuszki Street, while the Laboratory of Digital Archaeology and Source Research is located at 17c Siemieńskiego Street.

The Dean of the Faculty is Prof. Dr. Paweł Grata, formerly Dean of the Faculty of Sociology and History (2016-2019) and Vice-Rector for the College of Humanities (2019-2024), the functions of Vice-Deans are held by Dr. Tomasz Bochnak, Prof. UR - Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Education, and Dr. Paweł Korzeniowski, Prof. UR - Vice-Dean for Organization and Finance.

The director of the Institute of Archaeology is Katarzyna Trybała-Zawiślak, PhD, Prof. UR, and the director of the Institute of History is Jan Pisulinski, PhD, Prof. UR.
