Escalation is a 2022 Italian supernatural horror short film directed, written, produced, and edited by Christian Bachini who also stars in the film. The film premiered in the US at the FilmQuest Film Festival and ended it's festival run in the UK at the Romford Horror Film Festival in 2024. The film was co-written by Charles P. Cooper and features original music by American horror composer Alexander Taylor and Italian composer Antonio Vannucci.
Plot
[edit]Chris, a paranoid and self-centered man, is happily avoiding all human contact, preferring to escape from reality in whatever's on TV. When a friend reaches out to him to confront him about his past promises, Chris has to decide what kind of person he is inside, or it may just eat him...alive.
Reception
[edit]Escalation received critical acclaim in the Festival Circuit during its run in between 2022/23, collecting more than 80 awards in multiple categories at some of the World's Top Film Festivals according to MovieMaker, including a double victory at the Academy Award Qualifying "Flicker's Rhode Island International Film Festival" for Best Horror Short and Best Practical FX. Top genre movie news outlets such as Dread Central, Geek Tyrant and Rue Morgue celebrated "Escalation" as one of the most brutal, innovative and fun horror cinema experiences of recent times while movie magazines like Deadline and MovieMaker praised the film for the no-hold barred commitment to practical FX and high production value from the set design to cinematography and editing.
