Draft:Disappearance of Abby Patterson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abby Lynn Patterson, a 20-year-old woman, disappeared on September 5, 2017 in Lumberton, North Carolina, US.[1] She was last seen around 11:30 a.m. leaving her home on East 9th Street and entering a brown Buick. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a white shirt and brown shorts.[2]

Patterson is described as a white female with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. She has a tattoo of three black birds on her shoulder and a birthmark on the back of her right thigh.[3][4]

Background

[edit]

Her disappearance occurred in the same area where three other women had been found dead under suspicious circumstances earlier in 2017. The three women—Christina Bennett, Rhonda Jones, and Megan Oxendine—were found deceased in close proximity to each other over a span of two months. The unsettling pattern raised concerns about safety in the town and potential connections between the cases.[5][6] Those three cases remain unsolved as of 2024.[7]

Despite investigations by the Lumberton Police Department and the FBI, her whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities have identified and interviewed the driver of the brown Buick, but no further details have been publicly disclosed.[2] A reward of $10,000 is being offered for information leading to her discovery.[8]
