David Shiou-Han Wu was born in Washington DC in 1974 to scientists Alan Ming-ta Wu and Gillian Wu. He grew up in the Toronto area, attending alternative learning programs in North York and Scarborough.

Wu went on to attend the University of Toronto's Computer Engineering program and soon joined Origin Systems in Austin, Texas. He returned to Toronto in 1995 and founded Pseudo Interactive with 2 of his classmates from University.

In 2008, he moved to Redmond, Washington where he became the CTO of Microsoft Gaming, 343 Industries, publishing Halo. He left Microsoft in 2013 to work for various game studios as CTO until 2020 when he set to work developing his game Conquest and Virtue. His plan was to move back to Toronto and start up Pseudo Interactive again with C&V as the company's re-entry into the gaming world but his plans were cut short when he died suddenly of diabetic shock in his home in Redmond one week before his 48th birthday in 2022.
