CircusP (sometimes stylized as Circus-P) is an American musician, Vocaloid producer and songwriter. His songs are featured in various rhythm games involving Hatsune Miku. He is the lyricist and composer of the theme song for the 10th anniversary of Miku Expo.

History

[edit]

In 2010, CircusP released "Circus Monster" (Japanese: サーカス・モンスター) with vocals by Megurine Luka, his first song that got onto the community-run weekly Vocaloid song ranking[8]. CircusP (then DoofusP)[9] says fans of the song game him his current name.[10]

On January 30, 2015, an English singing demonstration of the Vocaloid voice bank Megurine Luka V4X was posted by Crypton Future Media, with the vocals tuned by CircusP.[11]

In late 2015, his song "Ten Thousand Stars" won the Hatsune Miku Expo Song Contest[4][12] and was subsequently performed at the 2016 Miku Expo concert tour in Canada, United States and Mexico.[13]

His song "Ten Thousand Stars" was added to the mobile rhythm game Cytus II as downloadable content on May 31, 2019, as part of the Hatsune Miku collaboration.[14][15][16] The music score designer Bee said that the level for this song takes inspiration from the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series.[17]

On April 22, 2020, CircusP was added as a Featured Artist to the rhythm game Osu!, with 8 of his songs made available to the community to make in-game levels.[18][third-party source needed]

In June 2022, his songs "Goodbye" and "Copycat" were added to the mobile rhythm game Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!. The songs are playable in the game and feature the original music videos.[19][20][third-party source needed]

CircusP wrote "Twilight Melody", the theme song for the 2nd anniversary of Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!. With the song added to the game as a playable level on December 7, 2023.[21][third-party source needed]

On January 12, 2024, the theme song for the 10th anniversary of Hatsune Miku Expo, titled "Intergalactic Bound" and written by CircusP and Japanese Vocaloid producer Yunosuke, was released in a music video directed by Tanaka Masaaki.[22][23] The song features vocals by virtual vocalist Hatsune Miku and was performed at her 2024 global concert tour.[24] The song is included on the CD and DVD album Hatsune Miku Expo 10th Anniversary E.P., released July 31, 2024.[25]

On April 4, 2024, Hatsune Miku character DLC was released for Crypt of the NecroDancer, with "Ten Thousand Stars" and "Intergalactic Bound" being part of the 15 newly-added tracks.[26][27]
