The Atambua UNHCR office attack, also known as the Atambua riots or massacre was an attack committed by pro-Indonesian militiamen and angered residents in Atambua and Betun on 6 September 2000. The riot is most infamous because when the mob stormed the UNHCR office in Atambua they murdered three foreign UN aid workers, two local Indonesian workers also went missing and are presumed to have been killed as well.
