Draft:Apex (film)
Apex is an upcoming film starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, directed by Joseph Kosinski, in a fictional account about Formula One racing. The film is produced in-part by Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, along with Jerry Bruckheimer, and Brad Pitt.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Synopsis
[edit]Retired racer Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) returns to F1 racing in car 7 for backmarker team Apex GP (APXGP) at the request of the team's owner, played by Javier Bardem, to mentor young hotshot Joshua Pierce (Damson Idris) in car 9, and move up the grid to find team success.[7][6][8][9][10]
Filming
[edit]Race scenes were filmed at 2023 Formula One season races starting with the real Formula One 2023 British Grand Prix, where modified Formula 2 cars were used for Pitt and Idris, who were filmed on an empty Silverstone Circuit, and digitally inserted into the racing scenes. Both actors and stunt drivers would be used to film the fictional F1 team drives. A fake garage for the 21st and 22nd cars of the grid (Apex) was set up in the pits for filming at Silverstone.[6][2][8][9][7] The would continue filming at races for the remainder of the 2023 season.[7]
