Andrew Wincott is an English actor, best known for the role of Raphael and Haarlep in the video game Baldur's Gate 3 (2023) developed by Larian Studios. His career spans more than 30 years of radio,[1] theatre, television and audiobooks, often published on sites such as Audible or Storytel.
Early life
[edit]Andrew Wincott was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England.[2] He is a graduate of Christ Church in Oxford and trained as an actor at the Webber Douglas Academy. Before starting his career as an actor, he was an English teacher.
Career
[edit]For more than 30 years, Andrew Wincott has been recording radio dramas for the BBC, where he has twice been a member of the Radio Drama Company.[1]
In 2003, he joined the cast of The Archers, the longest running daily soap opera in the world, which began its national run on 1st of January 1951. Since then, he has been lending his voice to Adam Macy.
Since 1996, when Wincott made his video game debut, by joining the cast of one of the first fully-voiced video games called Broken Sword, he has provided the voice for numerous video game characters. Some of his roles include: Jacques de Aldersberg in The Witcher 1 (2007), Dr. Wattson in the Sherlock Holmes game series (2016, 2021, 2023), Raphael, Haarlep[3], Kuo-Toa tribe, Cashguard Basher Brammels in Baldur's Gate 3 (2023). For his performance as Raphael[4], he won a BAFTA Games Award for Performer in a Supporting Role in April 2024.[5]
His audiobook credits include 1984 by George Orwell, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, Memory, Sorrow & Thorn by Tad Williams, John Sinclair Demon Hunter.
