Algireddy Praveen Reddy (born 28 June 1958 ) is an Indian politician[1] and agricultural leader from Telangana. Born and raised in Mulkanoor, Karimnagar district, Telangana, to A.K. Vishwanatha Reddy[2] and Vinodha. He is married to Rajyalakshmi, and they have two children- Vinesh Reddy and Powlomi Reddy.
He pursued Bachelor of Agricultural Science at Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani,[3] Maharashtra and later pursued PGDM to advance his knowledge in public administration and cooperative management. Taking inspiration from his father 'Late Shri. A. K. Vishwanatha Reddy[2]' establish and grow Mulkanoor Cooperative Rural Credit and Marketing Society Ltd[4] he has been serving as the President of the Mulkanoor Cooperative Rural Credit and Marketing Society Ltd.[4] since 1989.
Political Career
[edit]In 2009, Praveen Reddy joined[5] the Indian National Congress under the leadership of then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and PCC Chief D. Srinivas. In 2009 assembly elections, he contested as a candidate of Congress Party from Husnabad Constituency and won[6] the seat with a majority.[7] In this election, he contested against Captain. V. Lakshmikanta Rao, former minister as TRS candidate, Enugula Peddi Reddy, former minister as PRP candidate, and Chada Venkat Reddy, floor leader of CPI. He was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the newly demarcated Husnabad Assembly Constituency, serving from 2009 to 2014.
