Al-Azhar Institute in Erbil (Arabic: معهد أربيل الأزهري / Kurdish: پەیمانگای ئەزهەر لە هەولێر) is the only Al-Azhar Institute affiliated with Al-Azhar University in all parts of Iraq in Kurdistan Region,The institute was established in the year 2008 by the decision of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in Cairo and Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq.[1][2][3]

Study at the Institute
[edit]The student joins the Al-Azhar Institute in Erbil after completing his primary studies, where he studies the preparatory and secondary stages at institute. Immediately after that, the student joins the AlAzhar University in Egypt. It is worth noting that the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Dr.Ahmed el-Tayeb allocated 25 academic seats to the Al-Azhar Institute in Erbil in various fields. Faculties of Al-Azhar University.
Kurdish students at Al-Azhar University
[edit]After graduating from the Al-Azhar Institute in Erbil in Kurdistan region of Iraq, the student joins A-Azhar University with all its literary colleges. Every year, Kurdish students graduate from the various colleges of Al-Azhar University and obtain a degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate), where the students of the institute live Al-Azhar Institute in Erbil in the official housing affiliated with Al-Azhar University designated for expatriate students, (Islamic Mission City) in Cairo.[4][5]
For Kurdish students in Al-Azhar University, there is an official representative at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, who is: Mohammed Yahiya Azeez, a lawyer and graduate of the Faculty of Islamic sciences and Law at Al-Azhar University.[6][7]
