Udomette Bright Emmanuel is a professional accountant, born in 1982. He attended Qua Iboe Church Primary School Odoro Ikot, then Famous Vocational Training School Odoro Ikot (now defunct) and moved to Abuja where he attended Simplicity Commercial School Nyanya. He wrote National Business and Technical Examinations in 1997 and cleared his O' Level at a sitting. In 1999, he sat for and obtained the Advanced National Business Certificate (ANBC) and then proceeded for his National and Higher National Diploma in Accountancy, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic and graduated in 2003. He further proceeded for Higher National Diploma in Computer Science in the same Polytechnic and graduated in 2005.

He took up the job of an instructor in the Centre for Continuous Education of the same Polytechnic and taught Principles of Accounting I & II and MIS I & II.

He furthered his education for higher qualifications as follows:

i) Nasarawa State University, Keffi: Post-Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration and Planning (2007-2008); Bachelor of Science in Accounting (Second Class Upper) and Masters degree in Public Sector Accounting (2014). He is currently undergoing MPhil/PhD in Accounting & Finance in the same University (as at 2024/2025 session).

ii) Usmanu Dan Fodiyo University Sokoto: Post Graduate Diploma in Education (with Mathematics as subject area), graduating with Upper Credit.

iii) National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) Abuja: Post-Graduate Diploma in Tourism Management (2011-2012)

iv) National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Abuja, Nigeria: Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) Educational Administration and Planning with over 4.0 CGPA.

v) Nigerian College of Accountancy, Kwall, Plateau State: Post-Graduate Professional Diploma in Accountancy.

Udomette also trained as a secretary and qualified after sitting the National Secretarial Examinations and obtained the Advanced National Diploma in Secretarial Studies.

Professionally, Udomette is a member or fellow of some professional institutes, among which are:

a) Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN): Member (CNA)

b) Institute of Policy Development Management, Nigeria: Fellow (FIPDM)

c) Institute of Professional Financial Managers, UK: Fellow (FIPFM)

d) Chartered Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (CICMA), Nigeria: Associate Member (ACMA)

e) Association of Chartered System Accountants (ACSA), USA: Associate Member (CSA)

f) Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN): Certified Teacher

g) Chartered Institute of Certified Secretaries and Reporters of Nigeria (CICSRN): Associate Member

He is also a student member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

WORK EXPERIENCE

Udomette worked briefly as Sales & Accounts Clerk with Dove Voyages Limited Abuja between late 1998 and May 1999 before leaving to further his education.

He took the job of a class teacher and secretary at Simplicity Commercial College, briefly before the Abuja Comprehensive College where he served till he rose to the position of a Principal and then Schools Administrator till 2021.

He had served as an instructor at the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Centre for Continuing Education, then grew to a lecturer, then Centre Manager. He further joined Benerus Global Consulting & ANAN Professional Training Centre, Garki (Area 10) where he taught Info Tech for Business, Financial Management and Corporate Reporting for several years.

He later joined Dorben Polytechnic Abuja and served as a senior lecturer, departmental examinations officer and later as the Head of the Department of Accountancy (to date, 2024).

Publications:

He served as the managing editor of the Departmental Journal: Dorben Journal of Accounting Research, wherein he had contributed (jointly) over four articles.

He has authored a number of books notably: Basics of Management Information Systems (2011); An Authority to Effective Research Report Writing; Fundamental Business and Management Information Systems for Digital Age; Concise Studies on Cost Accounting; Simplified Financial Accounting; Forensic and Investigative Accounting; Environmental Accounting and Reporting; Fundamental Environmental and Petroleum (Oil and Gas) Accounting: Applications in Nigeria; Understanding International Accounting; Understanding Bankruptcy and Executorship Procedures and Accounts; Modern Office Practice, Technology and Management and Fundamental Cost Accounting.

Udomette Bright is a practical oriented teacher. Apart from teaching accounting courses, he has also proven his prowess in the area of Information Technology. He had taught Computer Science and Data processing at the Secondary School over the years with proven outcome and had served as External Examiner for NABTEB Computer Craft and ICT for over a decade. He had also been a Shorthand reader for WAEC, NABTEB and National Secretarial Examinations.
