Overview

523971 (1999 AJ39) is a very small asteroid whose orbit crosses that of Earth. NASA JPL has classified 523971 (1999 AJ39) as a “Near Earth Asteroid” due to its close proximity to Earth, but it is not considered potentially hazardous because computer simulations have not indicated any imminent likelihood of future collisions. 523971 (1999 AJ39) size is very roughly in comparable in size to that of a football field.
