In late 2023, Atlanta Hip-Hop legend Drama (known for his Billboard-topping hit, "Left, Right, Left") released "Rise Up," an Atlanta Falcons anthem for the 2024 NFL football season. "Rise Up[1]" was the first regional single for the artist since his 2000 Causin' Drama album, released by Atlantic Records[2][3].
"Rise Up" has been picked up by a number of local Atlanta DJs and added to their playlists. That year, Drama was asked to perform at an official Atlanta Falcons tailgate party outside the Mercedes-Benz stadium.
Since then, "Rise Up" has stood as the official anthem for Falcons-themed podcasts and events, including the Atlanta Falcons Nation (AFN) Podcast,[4] tailgate parties, and radio promos, including 2023 performances for the Atlanta Falcons and V-103 tailgate parties with the DJs, DJ Greg Street and DJ Jelly.
A lyric video of "Rise Up[5]" was released on September 24, 2023 by [ Fiesight Studios.
Production
[edit]"Rise Up[6]" was originally released on August 18, 2023,[7] under the Tymeless Entertainment Group,[8] an independent record label based out of Atlanta, Georgia.
The production was a collaboration between Drama, The DareDevyl, YZDB (Young Zo Da Beatman), Big Boi of Headnodd/MBM Music] (Engineer, and Gemini Da Twinn, who came up with the original concept and blueprint.
The Remix of "Rise Up"
[edit]Drama was inspired by the 2024 wins of The Atlanta Falcons, as they continued to rise to the top of the NFC South.[9] And he and his team decided it was time headed back to the studio for a remix his Atlanta Falcons anthem. Shining light on a newer generation of artists from the Greater Atlanta Area, "Rise Up[10]" got a facelift with features from 210 Toven and 49 Luh DJ[11] of the Tymeless Entertainment Group, as the legendary artist seemingly co-signed the pair in a "passing the torch" of events.
The remix was released in December 2024 and is available on all streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, YouTube, Pandora and more. Drama and his team plan to obtain sync and licensing for the new release, including placement into video games, movies, commercials, and television.
Newnan native 210 Toven signed to Tymeless Entertainment in 2023 and is known for tracks like "Pop Off[12]" and "Codeine[13]." 49 Luh DJ (and son of "Hardaway[14]" rapper Derez De'Shon) is from Atlanta, Georgia and has been making traction with his own single, "Come Here[15]," in addition to two other tracks he previously collaborated on with 210 Toven, "Boom Boom Pow[16]" and "Thinking Bout U[17]."
"Rise Up" - Drama Lyrics
[edit]"Rise Up (Original)"
[edit]Original Artist: Terence "Drama" Cook
Release Year: 2024
"Rise Up" is a rally anthem by Drama, created as a tribute to the Atlanta Falcons during their celebrated 2024–2025 NFL season, where they ranked #1 in the NFC South. The song features a high-energy chorus and verses that reflect the team's resilience, spirit, and strong connection to Atlanta culture.
Meaning Behind the Lyrics
[edit]Drama passionately emphasizes how the lyrics address the challenges, strengths, and unity of his city, stating that "My team, my city, the fans – we go too hard to let that go." He likens the track to being on "the brink of a battle, ready to conquer any obstacle that comes his way." He also compares the song's energy to "stepping onto a gridiron or entering the frontlines of a war."
A personal favorite of his, Drama's line "Put the lights on me, highlight me, beast mode for the world to see, put it all on the line, bets on me" reflects just how motivated he is to lead his team to victory -– by any means necessary — even if that means pushing the boundaries.[18]
Chorus Excerpt
[edit]"A-T-L-A-N-T-A Birds, rise up Red, Black, and White in my city Partna, front line wit it Ain't nobody flying wit us The song emphasizes the "Dirty Birds" identity of the Falcons, with a repetitive, chant-like structure that energizes fans. Its themes include teamwork, dedication, and pride in the city of Atlanta. The "rah, rah, rah, rise up" refrain is a powerful call to action that resonates in the stadium and among fans worldwide.
Impact
[edit]"Rise Up" was adopted by many as a die-hard Falcons' anthem during the 2024–2025 season and became synonymous with their success. It has been played at games, watch parties, rallies, and various celebratory events, earning recognition as an iconic sports anthem.
