Dorothy Wiggins (née Palmer; formerly Gittinger; born August 14, 1925) is an American social media influencer, socialite and former stylist. She is noted for her presence on Instagram and TikTok at age 96.[1][2][3][4]

Early life and education

[edit]

Wiggins was born Dorothy Katz Palmer on August 14, 1925, at New York Hospital. She was primarily raised on Long Island and in Lyme, Connecticut, where her parents owned a home on Beckett Hill and became acquainted with Guy C. Wiggins. Wiggins graduated from Hempstead High School in Hempstead, New York and subsequently attended Queens College.

Personal life

[edit]

In 1946, she firstly married Dr. William Carl Gittinger, a son of William M. Gittinger and Caroline Gittinger (née Raab), of Ozone Park, Queens. He died in the crash of Capital Airlines Flight 75 near Chase, Maryland, aged 32.[5] They had a son:

  • Grant P. Wiggins ( Gittinger; 1950–2015), a noted educator and author, married firstly to Rose Alexandra Kernochan, secondly married Denise Wilbur, had four children.[6][7] He would later be adopted by Wiggins' second husband and take his family name.[8][9]

In 1960, she married secondly to Guy C. Wiggins, a son of Guy C. Wiggins and grandson of Carleton Wiggins, who was a noted Hudson River School painter. They were introduced since Dorothy's parents collected the paintings of his father and were acquaintances while living in Lyme, Connecticut.[10] They had two sons;

  • Noel Carleton Wiggins (born 1965)
  • Guy C. Wiggins III

Wiggins independently resides in a brownstone in the West Village.[11][12]
